A Grade II listed manor house in which some parts of the building date back to the 15th century.
The requirement was to carry out the sympathetic replacement of existing heating and hot water circuits. A heat loss analysis was carried out and it was found that many of the existing radiators required replacing or refurbishing. The existing heating circuits were supplied by a one-pipe system and individual rooms could not be thermostatically controlled. The client wished to combine the best of old and new.
Baystar installed a new 40kW boiler and 10 Paladin new cast iron radiators to meet the heat loss of all habitable rooms. A new two pipe system to each radiator and Canterbury antique brass thermostatic radiator valves were installed so that individual rooms could be thermostatically controlled. Where possible existing cast iron radiators were retained, refurbished, power flushed and re-fitted in new locations within the property.
The fuel cost saving will be approximately 10%.
