A quiet retreat and meeting centre named after St. Cuthman of Steyning.
The requirement was to design and install a sustainable energy solution to heat all or some of the buildings. Baystar carried out a full feasibility study which indicated that the best return on investment would be given with a water source heat pump to serve the main building only. Baystar installed a 120kW water source heat pump utilising the on-site lake as the heat source, alongside a back-up boiler.
A project of this size will earn circa £15,000 per annum in Renewable Heat Incentive payments for 20 years, and the fuel cost saving will be approximately 20%.
